What can you do with a Data Science degree?
Data and the need for data-informed decisions are exploding in nearly every industry, giving qualified graduates nearly unlimited opportunities. You may work in many different fields, including: the technology sector, marketing, for a corporation, in the financial services and insurance industry, the healthcare industry, or in any other large industry focused on data as a driver of success.
At Daemen, you can earn a general Data Science degree or select a specialization in Health Promotion, Marketing, Political Science, Sport Management. You even have the option to follow a more traditional non-specialized degree plan.
Make sure the program you are considering is flexible enough that you can adapt your degree to meet your career goals.
Can you work with a four-year degree?
You may think that you need an advanced degree to work in a data-driven field, but many jobs only require a relevant four-year degree.
The Data Science program at Daemen is specifically designed so that you are work-ready in four years. A heavy emphasis on statistics, analytics, computer programming, communications and writing skills ensures that you are well-prepared to assist employers in making data-informed decisions while identifying opportunities for organizational and process improvement.
When you are looking at programs, make sure they include communication components that will help you to translate data into information thatโs easy for your employers to understand and use.
Think beyond the degrees.
How else is your college of choice going to help you succeed? Will you have opportunities to engage directly with faculty? Are there any academic clubs or programs that enable you to practice new skills or connect with fellow students?
These are all important factors when you consider what program would best suit you. Make sure you talk to your admissions counselor about these and other considerations.
For example, Daemen offers small classes (12:1 average), a variety of opportunities for undergraduate research, and outside class activities to help students further their skills and share their love of analyzing data with others.
Daemen will also help you maximize your success with related minors (e.g., business, computer science, accounting) and a core curriculum that trains you in critical thinking, communication skills, civic engagement and more.
