Perhaps you have heard earning a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree can advance your career.

We spoke with the leader of Daemen University’s MBA program about the top reasons you should apply – and pursue – an MBA.

Considered for Managerial Roles

“First, you learn skills to develop a better track record professionally,” said Doering. “If there are two or three candidates being considered, employers will look at what each has accomplished. An MBA sets you apart.”

“Employers naturally consider if a candidate has a more advanced degree,” he said. “Professionals with MBAs are seen as having more experience and knowledge, as well as better interpersonal skills to lead a team of people more effectively.”

Increased Salary

“There are many statistics stating that professionals with an MBA clearly earn more,” said Doering. “It’s a good return on investment.”

For instance, compensation projections from the National Association of Colleges and Employers predict that recent MBA graduates will earn $29,000 more per year than those who earned their bachelor’s degree in business in 2021.

In addition, a Wall Street Journal analysis of federal student loan data stated that for graduates of 98 percent of high education institutions with MBA programs, typically made more money than they borrowed – and just two years after graduating.

“It’s very common for graduates to have their degree pay for itself,” said Doering.
