Soon enough, you are going to be walking the campus as a new Daemen University student with lots of excitement and opportunities. As you eagerly prepare to begin your next phase in life and education, we want you to know that you are supported!
As you are in the transitioning phases, Daemen has both academic and social resources to make for a smooth and enjoyable start to your time at Daemen. Especially during a challenging time of a global pandemic, our support goes beyond safety and your health.
As you enter Daemen, you will be assigned an academic advisor who will help you figure out the details of your major and make an individualized plan to set you up for success. We take the time to ensure you understand not only your program, but the course structures and what you need to complete before graduation. Your advisor will guide you through all four years of your degree so you have support for not just the first semester, but for the entirety of your time here on campus.
Among your academic advisors, there are additional academic resources for studying, writing help, tutoring and so on to be sure you have guidance as needed. Outside of the academic environment, there is support in your living community and student engagement.
If you are going to be living on campus, you will have a resident assistant who will create programming and engagement opportunities for all students on the floor and in the whole building to interact and get to know each other. Meeting people is a great way to connect further to campus. We have several different clubs and organizations that you can join too.
Current student Cameron McCutcheaon said “ joining new clubs and organizations along with getting out of the dorm room for different campus events” is what helped him to transition quicker and feel more comfortable with his new life at Daemen. With COVID-19 changing things, he still found it possible to stay involved and even find new ways to do so. By doing his work at the Wick Campus Center, it helped to motivate him further because he was surrounded by peers all working too.
We want you to know that whether you are in class, in a club, attending an event, or just doing your work, you are surrounded by friendly faces and a place that can feel like home. We will always maintain our community environment and fill the months with opportunities to branch out and make your own way on campus.
Make sure to branch out and make your own connections and immerse yourself in #WildcatNation!
